Organization at a glance

Abadan Protibondhi Unnyan Shomobay Shamity is a Disabled Peoples Organization (DPO) working in Natore district of Bangladesh. The organization is running under the leadership of women with disabilities. The organization was registered with the Department of Cooperatives in January 2021 on the basis of long standing work experience of local women with disabilities on their own initiative in the socio-economic development of persons with disabilities, especially for women with disabilities. According to the By Laws of the organization, the activities are carried out by the staff and volunteers under the direction of the general secretary/ president under the supervision of the 6 members’ executive committee.

Through the direct involvement of the men and women with disabilities, the organization is working to promote rights of persons with disabilities and improving their lives with supports from government and non-government organizations. Besides, the organization is striving for partnership with the mainstreaming organizations for Disability Inclusion in their programs through ensuring active and meaningful participation of persons with disabilities as well as providing capacity building and technical assistance.
